Tampa Electric and President
Gordon L. Gillette is president of Tampa Electric and Florida Operations, which includes TECO Peoples Gas System. He is responsible for the operations of both utilities, including Business Strategy and Renewables, Energy Supply, Electric and Natural Gas Delivery, Customer Care, Fuels Management, State and Community Relations, and Regulatory Affairs.
Gillette previously was president of Tampa Electric & Peoples Gas and prior to that executive vice president and chief financial officer for TECO Energy. Since joining Tampa Electric in 1981, Gillette has held other leadership positions in Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Generation Planning, and TECO Guatemala (then a subsidiary of TECO Energy).
Gillette received both his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and his Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida (USF) and in 2016 was recognized by USF with a Distinguished Alumnus Award. A licensed Professional Engineer, Gillette is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Florida Engineering Society. A graduate of The Tampa Connection Leadership Program and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, he has also completed doctoral level coursework in Industrial Engineering at USF.
Gillette serves on the board of the American Gas Association, chairing its Audit Committee and is chair of the American Gas Foundation. He serves on the boards of Enterprise Florida and is past chair of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, is chair of the Florida Coordinating Group, and is past chair of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council.
Gillette serves on the boards of the Tampa General Hospital Foundation and Positive Coaching Affiliation. Past chair of the USF Foundation, he currently serves as co-chairman of the USF Foundation's Unstoppable Campaign. Gillette has also served as president of the board for the Children's Museum of Tampa, chair of the Hillsborough County Education Foundation, and chair of the Leadership Council for the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.
T.J. Szelistowski is president of Peoples Gas System where he leads a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of the company's approximately 12,500 miles of distribution mains and 160 miles of transmission lines that provide natural gas service to more than 370,000 customers in most of the metropolitan areas of Florida.
A Professional Engineer, Szelistowski has a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a MBA from the University of Tampa. He has more than 32 years of electric and gas utility experience at Tampa Electric working in a number of engineering and management positions, including vice president of Gas Delivery, director of T&D Operations, director of Energy Control Center, director of Engineering and Operations Services, and managing director of Regulatory Affairs.
Gerry Chasse is vice president of Electric Delivery for Tampa Electric where he is responsible for delivering electricity and modernizing the grid to serve the company's nearly 730,000 customers in West Central Florida.
Most recently Vice Chair of the Emera Maine Board of Directors, Chasse has served in several leadership roles in his more than 25 years at Emera affiliated companies. He started with Bangor Hydro in 1990 and progressed through engineering and electrical operations until 2002 when he became manager of Engineering. In 2010, he was appointed president & COO and became president & COO of Maine Public Service the following year, ultimately merging the two companies into one in 2014.
Most recently, Chasse spent a year leading Emera's effort to modernize the Emera affiliate grids through the implementation of smart grid technologies and the advancement to electrification of transportation and heating. His role included the development of strategies to enable customer choice, integrate renewable generation, manage increased load on the grid through its efficient utilization, and drive value for customers and shareholders.
A licensed professional engineer, Chasse holds a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine. He currently serves on the advisory board for the College of Engineering at the University of Maine as well as the advisory board for the Foundation for Maine's Community Colleges. He has also served on the boards of the Energy Council of the Northeast and the Maine Business School.
Senior Vice President
Business Strategy and Renewables
Thomas L. "Tom" Hernandez is senior vice president of Business Strategy and Renewables for Tampa Electric. He has primary responsibility for developing and securing approval of the strategic growth plan for Florida Operations and developing clean and sustainable renewable energy technologies that will be transformative and affordable for the company's nearly 730,000 customers.
Previously, Hernandez was vice president of Energy Supply, vice president of Energy Delivery and Customer Services and vice president of Regulatory Affairs. He joined Tampa Electric in August 1982 as an associate engineer in the Production Department. During his career with the company, he has held a variety of positions in operations, engineering, planning, marketing, fuels and environmental.
Hernandez received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Hernandez serves on the board of The Florida Aquarium. He previously served eight years on the Children's Board of Hillsborough County, including as chair and treasurer. He is a past executive board member and chair of the Resource Working Group of the Florida Electric Power Coordination Group.
State and Community Relations
Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas System
Charles O. "Chuck" Hinson is vice president of State and Community Relations at Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas System. He manages state governmental affairs, local community and governmental affairs, and franchise renewals for TECO Energy's electric and natural gas utilities.
Hinson joined TECO Energy in 1994 as director of State Governmental Affairs. Previously, Hinson worked in State Governmental Affairs at Centel/Sprint Corp. and the Florida Dental Association. Prior to that, he served as an aide to then-Gov. Bob Graham and worked as a communications specialist/policy analyst with the Florida Energy Office.
Hinson earned his bachelor's degree in history from the University of West Florida.
Hinson currently serves on the board, the executive committee and chairs the political committee of the Associated Industries of Florida. He previously served on the boards of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Tampa Bay Political Leadership Institute, Tax Watch, Keep Florida Beautiful, and the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists.
Rick Wall is the vice president of Gas Operations for TECO Peoples Gas System, where he is responsible for the utility's natural gas distribution and transmission operations across its 14 operating divisions. The company's natural gas systems encompass about 12,500 miles of distribution mains and 220 miles of transmission lines that provide natural gas service to more than 370,000 customers in most of the metropolitan areas of Florida.
With nearly four decades of natural gas utility experience, Wall joined Peoples Gas in 2005 as general manager of the South Region. He served as director of the East Region, and later as director of Gas Operations before being promoted to vice president of Gas Operations in 2017.
Wall is past president and serves on the board of the Florida Natural Gas Association and is a former managing committee chairman of the Distribution Operations and Engineering Section of the Southern Gas Association. He is a former member of the Energy Codes and Standards committees of the American Gas Association (AGA) and the Dade County Construction Licensing Board. He is also a former technical advisor at the Gas Research Institute.
Wall attended the University of Oklahoma School of Hydro Carbon Measurement and Engineering and has completed the AGA Executive Leadership Program, the Wharton Executive Education Program, and the University of Tampa TECO COHORT II Program, among others.
Joann T. Wehle is vice president of Marketing and Sales for TECO Peoples Gas. She is responsible for the company's sales and marketing, including growth of the company's customer base.
Since joining TECO in 1990, Wehle has served in roles of increasing responsibility in the Audit Services, Marketing, Fuels Management, Energy Conservation, and New Construction departments. Most recently, Wehle was director of Marketing and Fuel Planning for Peoples Gas.
Wehle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind., and completed graduate coursework in accounting at the University of Florida. Wehle maintains her CPA license in Florida and held a variety of accounting and auditing jobs earlier in her career.
Bill Whale is senior vice president of Energy Supply for Tampa Electric where he is responsible for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of nearly 5,000 megawatts of natural gas and coal-fueled generating capacity at four power plant sites. He is also responsible for generation planning, operations planning, engineering, construction, environmental planning and compliance, warehousing, combustion byproducts management and marketing.
Whale has served in several leadership roles in his more than 30 years at TECO Energy, including vice president of Operations at TECO Transport, vice president of Energy Supply, vice president of Energy
Delivery Operations & Engineering, and vice president, senior vice president of Electric & Gas Delivery and senior vice president of Electric Delivery at Tampa Electric.
A retired U.S. Navy captain, Whale has a bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, a Master of Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Tampa. Whale is a professional engineer and a U.S. Coast Guard third assistant engineer.
Whale serves on the board of the American Red Cross Central Florida Region.
Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas System
Monica Whiting is vice president of Customer Experience for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas. She is responsible for leading Tampa Electric's and Peoples Gas' customer service operations, including the contact center, customer billing, payment and collections, account management, new customer construction project management, and the customer relationship management billing system.
Whiting joined TECO in January 2017 after spending nearly four years as the chief customer officer for JEA. She has more than two decades of utility experience in customer service, communications and product development at utilities, including Colorado Springs Utilities and Anaheim Public Utilities.
She has a bachelor's degree in Public Relations/Journalism from the University of Southern California.
Whiting has served on various boards, including Leadership Jacksonville and the North Florida Region Red Cross. She also served on the United Way Campaign Cabinet for Northeast Florida in 2014 and 2015. Previously, the Colorado governor appointed her to serve two terms on the Low Income Energy Assistance Commission in that state.
